O’s Notes: Soliloquy is the sixth album for vocalist, composer Sylvia Brooks and another collaboration with arranger, pianist Christian Jacobs. The rest of the incredible band is Farzin Farhadi (sax), Grant Geissman (g), Kevin Axt (b) and Kevin Winard (d). We were touched by the story behind “Lizzie’s Dance” inspired by a young dancer with Down Syndrome confidently expressing herself at a recital. The warmth in Brooks voice resonates on “Soul Eyes”, opening a set of eight gems. Among the best are “Talks a Good Game”, a cover of “Fragile”, “Instinct of Love”, and “Temptation”.
