O’s Notes: This is old school, swinging, jazzy, blue ballads featuring Hannah Gill singing Spooky Jazz Vol. 2. She’s in front of a solid band including Philip Ambuel (b), Ricky Alexander (sax, cl), Gordon Webster (p, organ), Ben Zweig (d), Gabe Terracciano (violin), Mike Davis (t, tb), and Justin Poindexter (g, organ), revitalizing 11 classics. Gill is wise to let her musicians capture the spotlight as well elevating the set! We liked “My Man’s An Undertaker”, “Love Is A Necessary Evil”, the vamp on “Oogie Boogie Song”, “That Old Black Magic”, and the down-home blues of “You Hurt Me”.
