O’s Notes: Back in 1959 in Nalen, Sweden Stan Getz recorded this lie set at Harlem with his rhythm section. The band is Jan Johansson (p), Daniel Jordan (b), William Schiöpffe (d) and Stan on tenor sax. The recording quality is better than expected for the period, mic to tape, all analog. The real beauty is the warm, melodic phasing from Getz, who breathes passion through his horn over a dozen classic jazz pieces. Just sit back and enjoy it.
