O’s Notes: Tenor saxophonist, producer, composer Quintin Nachoff has been a student of music since his high school days in Toronto, inspired by the legendary John Coltrane as well as the Bartok String Quartets. This inspiration is apparent on Stars and Constellations, Nachoff’s latest endeavor. Nachoff combines two string quartets, Bergamot Quartet and The Rhythm Method, with his trio including bassist Mark Helias and drummer Dan Weiss. The resulting production is highly improvised and adventurous, also inspired by the vast stellar universe.
