O’s Notes: French Drummer Antoine Cara serves up a funky set of original contemporary jazz on Status Quo. He gets help from guest artists Mike Stern (g) and Randy Brecker (t) on three selections each. Cara uses judicious sampling and bassist Kevin Reveyrand dials in the funk all the way through. We liked “Wrong Turn”, “When We Were Young”, “Let’s Play” featuring Yannick Soccal (t-sax), and “Nevermind” featuring Stern and Yvonnick Prene (harmonica).
