O’s Notes: This is composer/guitarist Andy Waddell’s debut release as a leader. But Andy is not a newcomer having performed many years in the shadows of polished veterans on the left coast. Matt Politano (p), Tom Catenzaro (sax), Roger Shew (b) and Evan Stone (d) inspire Waddell to great heights throughout the nine tracks on Sunset to 7. Nancy Sanchez adds vocals on “Blue Skies” adding a soft touch to this crisp jazz-fusion set. The music feels good and is easy to embrace.
