O’s Notes: This recording may catch fans of straight ahead jazz vocalist Solitaire Miles by surprise. She dips into the world of Country & Western swing on Susie Blue And The Lonesome Fellas. Neil Alger (g), Eric Schneider (sax) and several other Chicago based jazz artists join her. The cover for sure took us aback but as they say: “Don’t judge a book by its cover!” We are glad we listened all they way through. This is an enjoyable set that will delight many. Solitaire assures us that she’s not abandoning her traditional jazz fans and plans to perform and record both genres going forward.
