O’s Notes: John opens up with a beautiful solo piano tune “One Peaceful Moment” that sets the stage for a session that gains momentum as it goes with Javon Jackson (sax), Curtis Lundy (b), Victor Jones (d), Elise Wood (flute) and Ray Mantilla (percussion) all getting a chance to express themselves on “Sweet Love of Mine”. This just one of many fine tunes in what turned out to be John’s final recording session. Hicks died May 10, 2006 as an underappreciated jazz pianist. But this is an excellent example of his prowess, arrangements and a few of his original compositions.
