O’s Notes: Saturn“is #6 of seven volumes in The“Art of Ivo Perelman-Shipp. It features the duo together re-establishing their musical bond. Their history performing together goes well beyond this series as they have recorded numerous CDs alone and as a duo prior to this. That will be no surprise to anyone listening, as they are extremely well coordinated even in this spontaneous mode. It’s not all harmonious, as we detect conflict from time to time; but is always respectful. More importantly because of their coordination, their music is more accessible that many free jazz recordings.
