O’s Notes: This set captures pianist Bill Evans in 1961 with his trio. Scott LaFaro (bass) and Paul Motian (drums) are the other players and together these guys are simply remarkable. They respect each other’s space and coexist with a harmony that draws the listener in. Each the musicians gets a chance to display their own talents while supporting the trio. There are 5 sets at the Village Vanguard on 3 CDs and we love them all.
