O’s Notes: The Crew is a retro bebop band that includes vocals by Bryan J. Hughes and spirited instrumentation from the band. They open with an inviting take of “Duke’s Place”, then swing hard on “Love You Madly” with nice work by pianist John O’Leary III and trumpeter James Suggs. They also play a few contemporary jazz tunes like the Latin flavored “Tangerine” and unique arrangements of “I Want You Back” & “Me and Mrs. Jones”. Guest saxophonist Jeff Coffin shines on “Feel Like Making Love” anchored by bassist Alejandro Arenas.
