O’s Notes: Yes, as the title suggests, this is rap with a half dozen different vocalists professing their take on reality. It’s gangster rap with funky beats, really cool beats on “The Gift”… No real jazz element but a lot of syncopated funk and words. We call this ghetto poetry. They don’t hold back on the lyrics. It’s uncensored and totally real on “Groove God”. These boys tell it like it is. Stand back if you can’t handle it. Omar Akbar (aka Labtekwon) is for real.
