O’s Notes: These are blues stories told by mixed vocalists over a jovial party band. Guitarist Justin Poindexter sings “St. Louis Blues”, Hannah Gill sings “When I Get Low I Get High”, “Kansas City”, “Mean To Me”, and “Love Me Or Leave Me”. The reed work by Danny Lipsitz is notable as is Ron Wilkins work on trombone. The Hot Toddies Jazz Band is a great representation of the swinging blues and jovial Big Band circuit in New Orleans early in the 20th century.
