O’s Notes: John Lurie is quite an entertainer. This is the same man who has a strong presence as an actor on the silver screen and is a saxophonist in the punk band Lounge Lizards! For The Invention of Animals, he leads the John Lurie National Orchestra that is actually a trio with drummers Billy Martin and Calvin Weston. They play seven free flowing songs that are percussion laden and strong musical depictions of nature. It is very approachable and inviting and yes enjoyable listening!
