O’s Notes: Lara Solnicki wrote seven compositions of poems, spoken word, and vocals with music for The One and The Other. The supporting band includes producer Jonathan Goldsmith (p), Peter Lutek (sax, cl, bassoon), Hugh Marsh (violin), Rob Piltch (g), Davide Di Renzi (d), with shared bass duties by Rich Brown and Scott Peterson. There’s a rather dark, Gothic approach that is threaded through most of the session, notably on “Furling Leaf, Retrocede”, one of our favorites along with “Idée Fixe” and the title suite.
