O’s Notes: This is a celebratory session of big band jazz. Mike shares his dual musical personalities as a vocalist and trumpeter. He plays brilliant solos on “The Song is You” and “Maria” before picking up the microphone to croon in front of his swinging band. The accents are crisp and the mood stays bright across all seventeen tracks, all classic covers. We also enjoyed “Latin Dream” with the lead solo by Joel Edwards (alto sax), “Counterforce” featuring Matt Wallace (ts), Tom Clifton (ts) and Joel Edwards (t) and the warmth of “I Believe In You” with Mike leading the melody.
