O’s Notes: Young vocalist Alfie Jackson bounces between New York and Chicago, gathering influences and education in both places. She makes her debut recording The Peacocks leading a sextet. The songs are mostly freshened classics that give Jackson a chance to display her unique, natural talent. She engages her accompaniment well with Wayne Williams (vibes) shining on “Nature Boy”, Leo Milano (t-sax) soloing on “My One and Only Love”, Chase Wilkins (d) opening “Ugetsu”. Our favorite is the bluesy, seductive “Do I Move You?” With special guest Michael Jackson (t-sax).
