O’s Notes: Swiss composer/pianist Sylvie Courvoisier continues her series of collaborations with pianist Cory Smythe. Both musicians engage in creative improvisational music leading us to The Rite of Spring. But the true inspiration for this project was dance master Israel Galván who Courvoisier backed for a decade. Following that time, they elected to do a project together based on Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. Sylvie created a strong solo version, but the Stravinsky family insisted it must be a piano duet! Sylvie met Cory and these three dynamic movements are the results. It is indeed a classical experience, and enjoyable.
