O’s Notes: Marike plays soprano and alto sax and composed most of the music for The Stereography Project. This is the sophomore release for the Dutch musician who now resides in New York. Her music is a rich, contemporary blend of classic and jazz genres. The inclusion of a lush string section imparts warmth typically found in fine chamber ensembles and symphonies. They soften the edgy improvisation by the soloists throughout the session. Highlights are “The End”, “I Am Not A Robot” and our favorite, “Christmas”!
