O’s Notes: There’s a funky sort of vamp vibe going on the opener “The Tempest”. It extends throughout the set led by pianist Pete Malinverni. Mild blues come onto the scene on “Let The Sea Roar” featuring a cool solo by bassist Dennis Irwin who repeats the feat again on “My Ideal”. Drummer Leroy Williams supports the moods of each of the tunes especially rollicking along with Pete on the duet “Get Happy”. The entire crew comes together for the finale, a pleasant arrangement of “It Could Happen To You”. This session feels good!
