O’s Notes: Pianist Pamela York takes a daring approach on a dozen originals and standards. But even the covers are invigorating. Her solo arrangement of “Caravan” is an example. She doesn’t hold back and adds her signature to Ellington’s without destroying the original theme! She refreshes it! We also hear her vocals on “You’ve Changed” and “East of The Sun”, a delicate yet assertive voice though we prefer her prowess on the keys.
