O’s Notes: South African bassist, composer Yosef Gutman Levitt now resides in Israel where he just released The World and Its People. The format is close to a chamber jazz quartet with cellist Yoed Nir, pianist Omri Mor, guitarist Tal Yahalom and the leader Levitt on double bass. The absence of drums and the acoustic instrumentation leads to a presentation that is rather pacifying. The eleven selections were written by Levitt with producer Gilad Ronen.
