O’s Notes: From the opening track, “Muddy River Vamp”, this one cooks! Herman Barney (b), Paul Fallat (d), Eric South (sax, fl), Ken Gregory (t) and pianist Jim Pearce play with a fervor that is energizing. This feeling exists on the entire set as the band performs Jim’s eleven compositions well. Other favorites were “Laughing Matter”, the lone bouncy vocal, “Play On” and “Sustaining Influence” where Pearce plays organ.
