O’s Notes: Simply Rose is veteran soprano opera singer Rose Kingsley from the New York Metropolitan Opera. She celebrates some of her favorite romantic jazz standards for her debut recording This Is My Life. She is supported by the Simply Rose Trio: Danny Flahive (b), Bob Corwin (p) and Doug Dean (perc, d). There are a dozen classics that take you in and out of the stages of romance tilted towards the darker side. Kingsley gives us a good cabaret-style performance.
