O’s Notes: Vocalist, composer Nancy Erickson Lamont is a romantic storyteller covering many ups and downs on Through the Passages. There are many love stories especially on “Did It Did or Did It Didn’t” and “Haiku New Love”. Some of the best moments feature Nancy echoing the melodies of bassist Chris Symer and pianist Josh Nelson as on “G ‘n’ K” with solos from Jerome Smith (tb), Brent Jensen (a-sax), and Stefan Schatz (d). We liked the glorious sounds of “Passages” featuring Nelson and the closer, “Auf Weidersehen, Goodnight”.
