O’s Notes: Young pianist and composer Jon Wirtz is waking the jazz world with Tourist gleaming comparisons to proven jazz pianists. The core of his effort is John Grigsby (b) and Alejandro Castaño (d). Guitarist Dan Schwindt joins them for 3 selections notably “Politico”. Stephen Malloy Brackett adds spoken word on “Gratitude”. The program includes jovial contemporary jazz tunes, some funk, fusion and some ballads. All the while Wirtz is tickling the ivory on this fine collection.
