O’s Notes: Mark is a young singer, guitarist co-producer and leader of the project. Vana Gierig (p) is his primary supporter, arranger and producer. This is a very creative set with Lambert transforming American pop standards using Latin, Arabic and Indian influences in his arrangements. The Brazilian reset of the title track gives it a very different bossa nova feeling including the use of strings. We also liked “I Love Paris” and “Tenderly”. The music has a light refreshing feeling that works well with ten overhauled standards.
