O’s Notes: This trio features vocalist Retta Christie backed by Dave Frishberg (p) and David Evans (sax, cl). They bounce along with a ragtime swing with lots of story telling along the way. There are fourteen songs highlighted by “Old Folks”, “Sweet And Slow” and “The Lonesome Road”. Retta’s lyrics are crisp, youthful, up front and easy going just like the music. This CD will appeal to lovers of Western swing.
