O’s Notes: The trio returns with Volume 2, a continuation of their translation of Crimson’s music to jazz. Jody Nardon (p), Tim Landers (b) and leader Ian Wallace (d) are CJ3 and they are a well-knit group that knows how to swing especially on songs like “One Time”. Unfortunately the trio lost Wallace to a bout with cancer on February 22, 2007. We can say that he proved to be a formidable jazz drummer on this recording injecting more zap, pop and solos than on Volume 1. Ex-Crimson saxophonist Mel Collins joined them for two songs as well notably “Frame By Frame”. Jody sings on the lone vocal “Inner Garden”, a reflective ballad. The chemistry was strong between them and the energy is translated to the listener.
