O’s Notes: Walking Shadows is tenor saxophonist Joshua Redman’s latest release and it is noteworthy of several counts. He breaks into a mellow zone, that of ballads displaying yet another dimension in his arsenal. He performs with the blessing of lush strings blending in but also standing out as the leader. Producer Brad Mehldau (p), Larry Grenadier (b) and Brian Blade (d) join Redman as he performs vintage and contemporary ballads with splendor. Don’t miss this one!
