O’s Notes: Drummer Jonah David’s highly anticipated debut, Waltz For Eli is packed with very approachable modern jazz. There’s a cool mysterious take of “Little Sunflower”, a great expression featuring David, pianist Joel Sanford, and bassist Joe Bussey, the core trio with special guests guitarist Jake Stith, and saxophonist Jason Arce. “How Insensitive” captures the true essence of Bossa Nova featuring Bryan Carrott (vibes) & Jake Stith (g), and Etienne Stadwijk (organ) puts the special sauce into “The Genius”. Anna Perkins adds soft vocals on a couple of songs notably “Sunrise Sunset” to balance the set.
