O’s Notes: Pianist, composer, producer Richard D. Johnson was inspired by three weeks of performances in Shanghai, China for his latest release is Warm Embrace. He gets support from vocalist Alyssa Allgood, Gregory Tardy (t-sax), Jeremy Boettcher (b), and Gregory Artry (d). We enjoyed Allgood’s vocals on “East Of The Sun”, “Dear Ruby”, “Don’t You Care I Know”, a duet with Johnson, and “Still We Dream”. She coaxes the band to swing on “1324 Broadway” and the title track, both showcasing Tardy and Johnson.
