O’s Notes: DVD: Leslie performs a live set in front of an intimate audience at the Shandelee Music Festival in New York March 2009. Her band is a quartet with Scott Hardy (b), Mark Dodge (d) and Satoshi Takeishi (perc). Leslie plays the Steinway with soft fingers incorporating rests into her program sparingly. It makes for an exciting style and a warm performance. The CD has the same title and the same cast. We viewed the DVD 1st and were impressed. The CD pulled us in even more. We’re Here To Listen is an appropriate title. The musicians listen to each other with an appreciation that spills over to the audience. Leslie composed six of the ten selections. Of note are “There You Go”, Completely” and “Wabi-Sabi”.
