O’s Notes: Spanish pianist Sergio Pamies is well versed and well studied translating his experiences into attentive, lyrical musical performances.“What Brought You Here? is a fine example of his work incorporating a wide variety of talented musicians throughout the set. Ashleigh Smith sings a fine rendition of “I Get A Kick Out Of You”. There is excellent work by Pamies throughout the set incorporating guitarist Brad Kang and percussionists José Cortés & Miguel Fernández into the mix on “El Hilo De La Portuguesa”. Quamon Fowler adds sax and EWI on the title track. These are just a few examples that keep the session interesting, engaging and fun.
