O’s Notes: Philadelphia-based singer, songwriter Jill Salvin was heavily influenced by the contemporary, pop artists of the early days including Bonnie Rait and Steely Dan. She’s surrounded by a good band with Frank Strauss (keyboards), Chico Huff (b), Nick Bucci (g), Bob Howell (t-sax), Steve Holloway (d), John Anthony (perc), and Bob Meashey (t, flugelhorn). The program includes fresh arrangements of a dozen popular classics. Among the best are “How Deep Is The Ocean”, “Your Mind Is On Vacation”, “Stolen Moments”, and “Little Children, Be Free”. Solos are plentiful from Bucci, Strauss and Howell.
