O’s Notes: JD Walter sings in front of a smattering of talented musicians on What The World Needs Now. Steve Varner handles most of the bass duty and teams with Jean-Michel Pilc (p) and Greg Hutchinson (d) on three selections. JD is a passionate singer full of emotions on fresh, personalized arrangements and even a few originals, notably “Dressed In A Song” and “Keisha’s Coy”. Orrin Evans (p) supports JD in a duet on the title track. We also enjoyed “And I Love Her” with Taylor Eigsti (p), Gilad Hekselman (g), James Genus (b), and Obed Calvaire (d).
