O’s Notes: German drummer, bandleader Xaver Hellmeier “X-Man”, has made many trips to New York and finally decided to document his presence with a recording X-Man In New York. He pulled some of the city’s finest musicians, and producer Joe Farnsworth at the legendary Van Gelder Studio! We liked the Latin vibe of “Book’s Bossa”, the soothing take of “The Good Life”, and swing of “A Night In Verona”, both featuring Jeremy Pelt (t) and David Hazeltine (p). Eric Alexander (t-sax) and Peter Washington (b) are the remaining stars on an unselfish team that cooks.
