O’s Notes: The Gurdjieff Ensemble is composed of leading musicians from Armenia led by the Armenian musician, artistic director Levon Eskenian. Zartir is a collection of medieval Armenian folk and spiritual music cast in the spirit of esoteric teacher G. I. Gurdjieff. The music is relaxing and stimulates reflection. Primary vocals come from Vladimir Papikyan while the National Chamber Choir of Armenia adds ambience on “The Great Prayer”. It is a page from the old-world worth listening to.
