O’s Notes: Drummer Chris Wabich leads a trio with pianist Josh Nelson and bassist Adam Lutz on 1978 (steep), with six original compositions. We like the soft approach of “Ruby On The Old Street” featuring Nelson, “Ancient Lake”, and “Magitama”. The entire set is relaxing, with a mild, warm fusion that bathes listeners in encouragement. The title comes from a Taiwanese tea that was made in 1978 from a tree over 100 years old. Wabich was consuming the last of his tea while composing the album, hence the connection. We suggest you enjoy this album with your favorite tea!
