O’s Notes: Generet is a consummate baritone balladeer. He’s paired up with pianist Richard Johnson on“2 of a Kind. They are supported by a fine band including Freddie Hendrix (t), Jonathan Beshay (sax), Barry Stephenson (b) and Henry Conerway (d). This is a swinging set of romantic ballads that pops. We really dug Beshay’s sax solo on “Close Your Eyes” one of many during the set. Generet sings of splitting up on “Face It”, weaseling out of a sticky situation on “I Was Telling Her About You” and getting crushed on “Mr. G”. Ahh, the perils of love!
