O’s Notes: Joshua Breakstone plays guitar and is the leader of a trio with bassist Lisle Atkinson and drummer Andy Watson. Cellist Mike Richmond joins them for 5 of the 9 selections in ‘the return of the cello-quartet’. Breakstone has lived all of his life on or around 2nd Avenue in New York hence the title. The music is bouncy with a laid back groove, a few burners and a ballad or two. The cello is a nice touch and differentiates the recording.
