O’s Notes: Trombonist, composer Brian Scarborough presents We Need The Wind, his second album as a leader. His band is a quintet with Matt Otto (t-sax), Roger Wilder (keyboards), Jeff Harshbarger(b), and Brian Steever (d). The rhythm section swings throughout the session regardless of the tempo. There are rich horn harmonies on “Broken”, and warm ballads like “The Long Road Back” featuring Harshbarger. We also enjoyed “Strange Bird”, an example of Brian engaging his entire team!
