O’s Notes: One of the most sought after drummers during the 1970-90s was Steve Gadd. He has a popping sound that accentuates the band around him. On 70 Strong he reasserts himself showing no signs of age. Yes, Gadd is a young and vibrant 70 years old. He leads his band with Walt Fowler (t), Larry Goldings (keyboards, accordion), Jimmy Johnson (b) and Michael Landeau (g). Most of the eleven songs are originals written by each of the musicians. They add 3 covers notably “De Volta Ao Samba” and “Oh, Yeah?” not a lot of showboating, just well coordinated execution!
