O’s Notes: Veteran jazz vocalist Freddy Cole continues to mellow with time. His voice still rings true with a warm hazy, gutsy tone. He is swinging with a quintet for this live set at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola. Freddy entertains the audience bridging the songs with engaging commentary. He is among the better club performers and a delight in an intimate environment. Jerry Weldon adds tenor sax that mirrors Cole’s sentiments as on “I Was Wrong”. We also made note of several cool solos from guitarist Randy Napoleon and John di Martino (p). Freddy plays piano on the five central tracks as well notably on “Where Can I Go Without You”. …a delightful performance.
