O’s Notes: Bassist Dave Young leads a swinging quartet with Kevin Turcotte (t), Robi Botos (p) and Frank Botos (d). Young occasionally uses a bow on his bass to bring a different character to songs like “Will You Be Mine”. Both Botos brothers display their talent on “Bohemia After Dark”, a showcase for Young as well! Among the best were “Sandu”, “Seven Minds” and “Will You Be Mine?” The program is nicely balanced with burners and ballads, mostly standards with a few of Young’s compositions. That equity extends to a sharing of the melodies between Dave, Robi and Kevin. Each does a fine job and with the spotlight shifting, we were continuously engaged.
