O’s Notes: Never A Dull Moment presents pianist Les McCann performing live in his trio on the west coast in early 1966, and on the east coast July 16,1967. The first two of three CDs are from the Penthouse in Seattle with bassist Stanley Gilbert and either Paul Humphrey or Tony Bazley on drums. The third disc features Les with Leroy Vinnegar on bass and Frank Severino on drums. McCann has a vibrant stride style that is energetic and immediately engaging. The liner notes are fabulous, truly enhancing the listening experience, one that casts McCann in great light!
