O’s Notes: The first track is a sweet solo guitar rendition of “Tenderly”. This sets the stage for Benson as the guitarist, where he started before expanding his audience by singing. Pure jazz fans will love this approach while those who have fallen in love with his vocals will appreciate “My Cherie Amor”, “Since I Fell For You” and “The Very Thought of You”, the only vocal tracks. We enjoyed “Naima” and the funky calypso of “Tequila”. George employs a full orchestra with strings to support him and they add to the grand splendor of the session on “Lady In My Life”. Benson has not lost his chops and this collection of mostly instrumental pop tunes is absolutely on point, a winner for all of his fans.
