O’s Notes: It’s been a while since we have last reviewed Italian, harmonica player and guitarist Enrico Granafei. He has compiled compositions made since then on It’s Hard To Say Goodbye, including contributions from the late Claudio Roditi (t) and Mike Longo (p), to whom the album is dedicated along with the legendary Toots Thielemans. The music has a cool Latin bent, showcased on “PIA”, featuring a rich piano solo by Amina Figarova. Granafei takes the microphone on “Medo De Amar”, “Amico” & “Calabrossa”, singing in Brazilian Portuguese and soloing on harmonica. We hear the influence of Toots here and throughout this session. Cool bossa nova reigns in unison across many musicians and over an extended period.
