O’s Notes: Marc is a cool jazz singer who plays with a swinging quintet including Larry Novak (p), Nick Tountas (b), Rusty Jones (d), Curt Warren (g) and Greg Fishman (sax). By the time he hits “Confirmation” Marc is feeling it; singing, scatting and turning up the heat with the band fully engaged. We’d be remiss if we didn’t recognize the strong contribution from his band most notable on the solos for “Devil May Care”. And Marc shines throughout especially on feature tunes like “Lush Life”. Overall Pompe’s performance places him amongst the best of today’s pure jazz vocalists. Dig it.
