O’s Notes: Saxophonist Ian O’Beirne toured with the Glenn Miller Orchestra for 7 years before assembling his own ten-piece ensemble called Slowbern. O’Beirne joined the USAF Band in July 2017 in Fairfield CA but continues his work with his big band. Slowbern is a vibrant large ensemble that combines power and precision for a delightful package of eleven original and covers titled“Dreams of Daedalus. “When War Was King”, “Thorn” and “Ding Dong Ditch” are highlights in a strong session.
